Sketch
In this distinctive L-shaped suite, the front room was lit with sodium lamps used in tunnels, which canceled out any sense of color. Everything in the next room—including the tatami mats and fusuma—was painted over with a brush like on a canvas, mixing the three-dimensional aspects of the room with the two-dimensional. Guests and visitors had the strange sensation that they had wandered into a picture.
