Dogo Onsen Annex, Asuka-no-yu Uniforms/ Yukata
“BEAMS” produced the yukatas and staff uniforms of the newly opened Dogo Onsen Annex, Asuka-no-yu in Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture. This is the second yukata designing since designing the yukatas for the main Dogo Onsen facilities in 2014. The white heron that is the symbol of Dogo, but also used in many designs throughout the the Main Building of Dogo Onsen is now placed on the guest yukatas along with other occurrences of animals from onsens all over Japan. The yukata’s design is of all these animals coming together in Dogo. Along with its history of a former zoo in Dogo park, the yukatas come in three different designs according to the baths a visitor chooses. The uniforms of the staff are designed to look like that of the bath houses of the Asuka Era. The color is a dark red closer to a tan. Details from climbing wear with accents such as snap buttons are taken into the uniform whose overall look comes from kanto-i, an ancient piece of clothing.
