Hayama transformed a two-room space at the Japanese inn Funaya. In the tatami room visitors were surrounded by traditional gyosōmon (fish-in-seaweed) designs. The gyosōmon design symbolizes the wish for the prosperity of one’s clan. A basin decorated with the fish design was also placed in the center of the room. The room was furnished with some of the artist’s original ceramic tiles and panels.
